Find the pressure points in public filings
Companies explain their results, costs and plans in their public filings. Harpoons reads them for you and flags the changes that connect to what you sell.
Why filings show where leaders feel pressure
In filings, companies explain their problems in their own words. A missed quarter, a rising cost or a new plan shows where leaders are under pressure.
If that pressure connects to what you sell, it’s a strong reason to reach out. And you can refer to a public document, not a guess.
What we look for
- Results below expectations
- Rising costs in an area you help with
- Plans and investments that leaders announce
- What management says about risks and priorities
- Changes to leadership or structure
An example factor
A payments team wants to know when a target account is under pressure to cut costs they can help with. They turn that into a factor.
The account brief shows the figure, the period it covers and a link to the filing. See account briefs.

Results pressure
A missed quarter, or a cost line that maps to what you sell.
Where we find filings
- Annual and quarterly reports
- Regulatory filings
- Results calls and investor presentations
- Accounts that private companies publish, in countries where they must
- News coverage of results
- Other sources we’ve checked for usage rights and quality
How we record a filing
Numbers keep their units and the period they cover. We record the date of the filing and the period it reports on. So last year’s results aren’t shown as this week’s news.
Many private companies publish little or nothing. If we can’t find a filing for an account, the brief says so.
