Hiring shows where a company is investing
Companies hire before they spend. A new team, a run of job postings or a role that mentions your category tells you where an account is heading. Harpoons tracks the hiring that’s relevant to you.
Why job postings are public plans
A company hiring payments engineers is building payments. A new team in a new country is a market entry in progress. A role that names a migration tells you a project is starting.
Hiring often comes before buying. The new team will need tools, and the person who runs it will choose them.
What we look for
- Open roles related to what you sell
- New teams or departments
- Hiring in a new country or region
- Roles that name a tool or a project, such as a migration
- Fast growth in a team that uses products like yours
Where we find hiring signals
- Company careers pages and job postings
- Job boards
- Company announcements about new teams or offices
- Leaders’ posts about growing their team
- News coverage
- Other sources we’ve checked for usage rights and quality
How we record a hiring signal
An open role is ongoing, not a one-off event. We record when a posting first appeared and whether it’s still open.
A role that has been open for a year means something different from one that opened last week. The account brief shows both dates, so you can tell the difference.
Make it one of your factors
A team might use a factor such as “Relevant hiring: new roles related to our product.” Your factor says which roles count, and how recent they must be.
New leaders are a related signal. See leadership changes.
